About

Florian Horwath has been a key figure of the emerging Austrian music scene since the mid 2000s, best known for his unique vocals and analog live performance style, that led to international tours and special guest appearances with The Cardigans, Patti Smith, Beck, Element Of Crime…

His Duett „Baby You Got Me Wrong“ with Cardigans Singer Nina Persson became an underground hit.

Having done various collaborations (Grom, Seelenluft, Rocket Science) and alter ego projects (The Big Howard) over the years, he has also made himself a name as a film composer.

In 2021, Horwath received the Austrian Film Award for Best Original Music („Hochwald/ Why not me?“/ directed by Evi Romen), in 2015 the Tiantan Award at the International Beijing Film Festival for Marie Kreutzers „Gruber Geht“ in the same category.

Fall 2024 will see the release of Florian Horwaths first novel, „Magic Man“, accompanied by a new duet Single, „Light Of Love.“

Praise

Florian Horwath is one of the best melody writers that I know. His melodies are unbelievable.

The redeemer!

Florian Horwath does a bit of reinventing the last five decades of pop culture!
SPEX Magazine
He is the new Jackson Browne (early years)
The magnificent, cuddly ballad ”Baby You Got Me Wrong“ with Nina Persson from the Cardigans, better than ”Baker Street“ from Gerry Rafferty…

Amazing Folk Pop
Beautiful songs of tender strangeness
Rolling Stone Magazine
Florian Horwath is the first Austrian New Folk Star. He is cool, he is beautiful, and his music is too. And it is wild and very acoustic, so acoustic that it rattles, and thats worth a lot. It seems that here somebody finally paves the way noone dared to go yet, and he does it with big steps and with the gloves off. Bravo, Florian!
Sven Regener (Element Of Crime)
Epic hymns!
Intro
…a gifted songwriter.

Just as this deceptive impression of innocence returns always when, after weeks of cold wet weather and nasty grey drizzle, the sun reappears and a gentle breeze caresses one's skin as if for the first time ever, so too must the perfect pop song sound. It was invented for that very purpose, as an eternal art form that has been handed since The Beatles (let's say: Norwegian Wood) from one musician to another, from generation to generation, like the baton in a relay race. That baton has passed through the hands of Cat Stevens, The Kinks, Prefab Sprout, Jarvis Cocker and Ron Sexsmith. And it is now in the hands of Austrian singer-songwriter Florian Horwath, in the form of a song that is pure and perfect sound, that has no message beyond itself, that hovers in the air like an iridescent soap bubble for three brief but precious moments, and saves the world.

Whatever Florian touches turns to sunrisegold. Wether you listen to his music and his touching voice or you read his enormously funny book about his stunning experiences with vintage-designerpiece-deals (he's been into that since the first days of internet!) - you can't escape his charm. His feeling for telling stories, paired with an unshakable believe in mankind and beauty, seasoned with a good pinch of humor and self-irony makes his book the perfect read for everyone who has ever loved things. And people.
Anna Jung (Publisher Voland & Quist, Berlin)
